Summary: Liked hotel and helpful staff. Nothing immediately local but frequent local buses which run til 8.30/9pm back take you to Sandakan centre (RMS .70) where you can get good selection of foods and drinks. Lots of shopping malls. Sepilok(Orangutans and Honeybears) Labuk(Proboscis monkeys) Australian war memorial and Heritage trail were good. Only waste of time and money was Gomantong Bat caves. 4hrs from Sandakan, my camera could not get anything due to it's great size and darkness. Maybe nighttime from nearer stopover would be better. Next to hotel is a Ten pin bowling alley where multi national food is available until 10. Very handy. Can't hear it from hotel. I booked 6 nights but 4 would be enough if sights were more efficiently managed. No complaints with hotel.
